The past few weeks have brought unprecedented challenges for our members and their employees, including the need to understand and comply with sweeping federal laws granting leave to employees impacted by COVID-19. Archbright’s HR, Legal, and Content teams have been actively monitoring the pronouncements from state and federal officials, analyzing the new laws passed in response to the pandemic and assessing the legal implications for our members. The Families First Response Act (FFCRA), effective on April 1, 2020, applies to private employers with less than 500 employees and all governmental agencies and schools. It contains two significant provisions for employers to be aware of: Emergency Family and Medical Leave Expansion Act and Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act. On March 26, the DOL published updated guidance. In this recording of our 4/1/20 Webinar, Kellis Borek, Vice President of Labor & Legal Services, covers what we now know about employer obligations under FFCRA and includes practical application advice for employers in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho.
